GAMRIN ASTRO T5 Mini Tracking System
The Garmin Astro 430 with T5 mini combo is the new Australian Legal Garmin GPS and GLONASS tracking system which is designed for smaller hunting dogs from 7kg. With the Astro 430 handheld, it can track up to 20 dogs at a range of up to 7km. With a 2.5 second update rate that is twice as fast as its predecessor. So, it is quicker to pinpoint the location when dogs are on the run. Intuitive and easy to use, the Astro 430 features a vibrant 2.6 inch display, preloaded TOPO lite Australia map and an optional in-unit rechargeable battery. Also includes Hunt Metrics dog performance data to help analyse your dog's tracking patterns and behaviours, so you can train more effectively.
The Astro 430 is compatible with the new Garmin Drivetrack 71 LMT Car navigation device and Fenix 3, 5 (plus) multisport watch. The Drivetrack 71 LMT works as a "7 inch Big Screen" for the Astro 430/T5 dog tracking system while in the car. It receives location data information from the Astro 430 via bluetooth and display dog's speed, location, direction heading on reloaded AU/NZ Topo lite maps. The Fenix 5 watch is a portable solution for the Astro 430/T5. When the Fenix 5 connects to the Astro 430, it will show the dogs' name, direction of heading and distance from you. So you can keep your big Astro handheld in the pocket or holster and track the dog from wrist.
Astro 430 vs Alpha 100
The Astro 430 looks like a tracking only version of the Alpha 100. It has most features of the Alpha 100. The main difference is the Alpha 100 has touch screen and Astro 430 offers back to basic keys operation for different users. The Astro 430 will have a longer range than Alpha 100 because it doesn't have the training module that requires it to communicate with the collar. With tracking only, the Astro 430 is equipped with a longer antenna than the standard Alpha 100 handheld.
