The Dogtra Pathfinder 2 GPS Dog Tracking & Training System combines GPS tracking and e-collar training on your smartphone (iOS or Android). Using the free app, you can download offline maps via Wi-Fi and track or train your dog without mobile data. Unlike other GPS collars, it provides a larger, clearer smartphone display for easier tracking and training.

Operating Modes:
Dog Tracking Mode: Real-time GPS tracking on smartphone with 2-second update rate, live location, status, and history playback.
Geo-Fence Mode: Custom boundary alerts when the dog enters or exits a defined outdoor area.
Mobile Fence Mode: Adjustable radius boundary centred on smartphone location, notifications via sound, vibration, or pop-up.
Electric Fence Mode: Preset static stimulation applied when dog approaches boundary (outdoor use only).

What is the difference between Dog Tracking Mode and GPS Fence mode?
Dog Tracking mode gives instant dog location data for people wanting to track their dog in open fields. It is commonly used for deer/pig hunting, working cattle or sheep and camping. For GPS fence mode, you DO NOT need to locate where the dog is, the collar will automatically correct the dog by itself when the dog is near the Geo boundary.
 
 
Can I see where my dog is while I am at home and the dog is outside?
Yes — but this is dog tracking mode, not fencing mode. To view your dog’s live location, the GPS Connector (yellow transmitter) must be placed outdoors where it has clear GPS signal. Your smartphone must remain within Bluetooth range of the connector (approximately 10 metres).
 
 
 
Will the GPS fence work if my app is turned off or if I am away from home?
Yes. Once the boundary has been created in the smartphone app and synced to the collar, the collar stores the boundary settings internally. When your dog approaches the defined boundary, the collar will activate automatically based on your preset correction settings. The Pathfinder 2 collar does not need to remain connected to your smartphone or the GPS Connector once the fence settings have been synchronised.
 
Will the Pathfinder 2 collar work when my dog is inside the house or under cover?
No. The Pathfinder 2 is a GPS-based system and requires satellite signal to function correctly. If the collar is inside a house, shed, kennel, or under heavy cover, it may lose GPS signal. When GPS signal is lost, the collar may interpret this as the dog leaving the boundary and could trigger a correction. Once the dog returns to an open outdoor area and GPS signal is restored, the correction will stop. This system is designed for outdoor use only.
 
What if my dog sometimes comes inside or goes under cover?
The Pathfinder 2 system is designed for outdoor use only. If your dog only comes inside briefly, you can reduce the GPS update rate (for example, to 30 seconds or 1 minute). This reduces how frequently the collar checks location, helping prevent unnecessary corrections during short periods under cover. If your dog remains indoors for extended periods, you should either remove the collar or turn Fence Mode off in the Pathfinder 2 app.
